Mt. Timp Campground & Stewart Falls
Once upon a summer we tried to go camping. The story goes a little something like this: We grabbed a campsite super close to us just above Sundance. We thought it would be an easy, fun trip. We always forget how much work tent camping is. It ended up not working out how we thought.
We decided to just have a late night the first night and go home to sleep. Chase and I are getting old and our backs hurt when we sleep in a tent two nights in a row. Ha ha!
We brought Dobe with us because he usually loves camping and its the only time we can get him to sleep with us. This time he was a spas and did not love it.
Here is Chase getting our Dutch Oven dinner started before our hike. We start to feel it lightly sprinkle but no big deal. We will have a hot meal ready for us when we return from our hiking adventures!
Stewart Falls was beautiful. The hike went pretty normal. There was laughter. There was complaining. There was awe and wonder at the nature surrounding us!
We ate our snacks at the end and enjoyed the view.
On the way back there was lots of comments like "Im tired" and "My legs hurt". Chase carried buddy for about 2 minutes to give him a break. We were all laughing.
Of course Brielle said it wasn't fair and she needed a turn being carried as well. Its a good thing their dad is a strong fireman!
This picture was actually the first night during our late night. We loved throwing the frisbee near our campsite. Brielle got slightly annoyed that I kept swooning over all the brides getting their bridal pictures taken. She wanted me to pay attention to frisbee. But that scenery with those beautiful brides and grooms was just too perfect not to stare at!
The second night after our hike we came back to eat our dutch oven dinner. It was DELICIOUS! The kids even devoured it. We ate smores and told scary stories around the fire. We went to bed... and then... it started POURING rain. The kids were fast asleep. Chase and I were miserable. We could also hear the caretakers TV blasting from her little RV. I think she was watching QVC from what I could make out. We decided since our home was only a 20 min drive away that we wanted to be put out of our misery and just sleep in our bed. We dragged the kids out of their sleeping bags, I grabbed the dog and off we went! We slept soundly and peacefully in our own beds. We did not regret it! Chase and I went back the next morning to clean up our campsite and vowed not to go camping again for a long time. This concludes our tale of summer camping for 2019!
I would also like to note I have great respect for all the work our own parents put into taking us camping as children. And they had WAY more kids than our family does! This is no easy task! But always makes for colorful memories!
