Swim Meet at Riverside

This was their first and only swim meet this summer. They missed the first one during Chase's marathon and usually don't attend the away meets. This is by far my favorite sport to watch my kids in. I have always loved swimming and was a part of CMST (City of Modesto Swim Team) growing up and also played water polo. I guess I feel like I can relate to my kids in the water, I know the sport and love to cheer them on! 

They can only swim three events plus one relay. They both decided they hate backstroke this year. So they swam Free, Breast and Fly. Since Brielle is 10 this year she was able to race her first 50M in Freestyle. She also swam a "freelay" which is a freestyle relay. I snapped this picture of Brielle and her friend Bella from school. Bella is very athletic and competitive like Brielle and it seems they are always swimming, running or playing soccer right next to each other! I love it!

Beckham is just happy as can be in the water. I always detect a trace of a smile even when he is racing. He has never been as competitive as Brielle, but still loves to play sports. He gets excited and loves being around his friends. He doesn't care if he gets 1st place or last place and always has fun just the same. And I love him for it!

This picture is one of my favorites. Its a candid moment I caught of them between events. One of the best things about swim meets is the time you spend with friends and family while you're waiting around for your next race. There is lots of snacking, chatting, laughing and cheering on friends during their own races. I love that my kids share the bond of swim team together. Sadly, Chase was at work and had to miss it. But I always record all of their races and we Marco Polo a lot during the meet. They know their dad is watching and rooting for them at the fire station!
