Lava Hot Springs
This is the third summer taking our kids to Lava. The first time was our very first Tandy Family Vacation with the entire extended family.
The first time I went to Lava was as a teenager with my mom, Tracy, Clair and Cody. My stepdad was from Pocatello, Idaho and this is where he grew up visiting. However, he only took us the the hot pools. So I was missing out on the other two funnest parts- the Lava Hot Springs Springs Olympic Swimming Complex and the Portneuf River!
Our kids always have a blast at this swimming complex doing the water slides and jumping off the high dives and platforms. This year Brielle jumped off the highest platform! She did it by herself first and then went with Chase. I am always so impressed by her fearlessness! There were so many adults and teenagers wuss-ing out up there and she showed all of them up! When it was her turn she ran right off! No fear! I think she ended up jumping off about ten times that day.
I got a few shots of the jump happening with Chase and Brielle.
Its hard to see Brielle in the last picture but she is there, not quite in the water yet.
Buddy and I had fun sticking to the high dive this year. Him and I have both jumped off the first platform and even that is a stretch for me! It is so high! I think the highest platform is 33 feet.
Buddy loves to jump all over Chase in the pool.
Actually, both the kids love to jump all over Chase in the pool. We also like to have family tea parties at the bottom.
I got caught doing bunny ears right after the pic was over.
I love this picture. Beckham loves his dad so much and just wants to be near him always. He is probably begging Chase to wrestle him in the pool some more in this picture.
It was our second time staying at Aura Soma as a family and we like the quaint, little hotel. There is nothing fancy about the town of Lava and that is part of its charm. I love the mineral pool Aura Soma has and it has a beautiful view of the river. We were all so exhausted of long days and late nights at Bear Lake that we didn't even float the river this time.
Another one of my favorite parts about family vacation is seeing these two share a bed. Brielle hates sharing beds, but Beckham does not mind. He is always so sweet with her and lets her put pillows between them, which eventually end of laying on top of Beckham all night while he sleeps! 😂 He says he doesn't mind and likes the pillows on top of him. Then they lay in bed together in the mornings and play their kindles or watch cartoons.💛
This is Beckham's "Its so hot" face when taking his first dip into the hot pool.
We just stayed one night. Before we left the next morning we took a relaxing swim in the mineral pool. The kids talked us into throwing them in the water a few times. It's their favorite!
I requested a taco from this yummy Mexican Food joint that is parked in the KOA. After our food we hit the road to go home. Beckham ended up forgetting his phone watch and both kids forgot their pillows. Oh and Chase forgot his pillow in Bear Lake. So I was the only one who came home with a pillow. Ha ha! The hotel is mailing the phone watch. Lesson learned to always double check the hotel room before leaving! Until next time Lava Hot Springs!
