Oregon Part 3: Newport
After roughing it in the moldy, lopsided cabin we stepped it up to this place! We found this gem online the night before and decided to book it. It was definitely a splurge but worth every penny!
One thing I have learned about traveling is this: If I have to "rough" it I will, but I don't like to! I like staying in nice places and Im not ashamed to admit it. So does Chase ;) This was the view from our room.
Hot tubs are my favorite and this giant infinity hot tub was half of what sold me on this hotel. We immediately changed into our suits and got in. We had it all to ourselves.
Honestly, probably my favorite part of the trip was being here. Right here in this spot watching the ocean.
Our first night in Newport we headed to the Chowder Bowl and ate some chowder of course! I also ordered a dessert of marionberry cobbler topped with ice cream and it was heavenly.
We walked back to our hotel and enjoyed the sunset. Can you believe how beautiful it is here? I still can't get over it!
We both brought our books outside and read by the fire pit. The Inn was a small place and not super crowded. So it was very nice to have these moments with no one else around.
We took a dip in the hot tub again and enjoyed more sunset.
I kept asking myself "Is this really my life right now?" I am grateful for a hard working husband who loves to travel and take me to explore the world.
We still had the hot tub all to ourselves! A few times one or two people would get in but most of the time it was just us.
We would walk down these stairs from our hotel to the beach. We swam in the ocean and would run back up and jump in the hot tub again. It was so much fun!
Chase ran on the beach both mornings. The last day he jumped in for a swim after his run and their were huge crabs all around him.
We loved visiting Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
We walked down to the beach and saw so many cute seals close to shore feeding. We also saw a good amount of whale activity! I had never seen whales so much in the ocean before.
I signed us up for the tour to go inside the lighthouse.
There was a small group of us during the tour. The tour guide role played as the light house keeper. It was kind of weird at first but by the end I was into it ;)
I kept thinking of how much Brielle and Beckham would have loved to climb these stairs to the top.
We each got to take a turn to go up and see the light at the very top.
This was the workroom of the lighthouse keeper.
We ended our tour and headed back to our hotel. We walked through town and stopped at an Irish Pub for dinner. We sat outside and I ate the best clam chowder of my life. The sun was setting, you could smell the ocean air, the ambiance was perfect! This was one of my favorite nights on our trip together. We walked back to our hotel across the beach and up the stairs. Enjoyed some more hot tub time and went to bed. The next morning we checked out and headed for our last stop: Bend!
