School Spelling Bee and Soar Award
Beckham is very smart. I know all parents say this about their kids, but in Beckhams case it really is true. He years for more learning and challenges at school. School has always been quite easy for him and he often gets frustrated that his class spelling tests don't have harder words. It was his goal last year (in 2nd grade) to make it into the school spelling bee this year. Each classroom picks the top 2 spellers in their class and Beckham was one of them this year! He met his goal and was just so happy to be up there. I think their was about 60 kids in total. Beckham always stayed calm and happy when it was his turn to spell and spoke so clear and confident! Other parents I was sitting next to (some of them my friends) could not believe how mature he was for his age. Buddy has always been that way! He ended up making it into the final round! Only the 1st place winner would go onto the district spelling bee, but Beckham made 4th place out of the whole school! He had some crazy hard words to spell too! Some of them I even got wrong in my head when I was silently spelling along with him. He is smarter than me for sure! And I love it! I snapped a pic of his with his buddy Calvin Huber, who Beckham knows since he lives in our neighborhood and is friends with Brielle and is in 5th grade. Calvin got 3rd and Beckham got 4th and was the only 3rd grader left on stage! So proud of this boy!
A few weeks later he was nominated for a SOAR award by his teacher and Stone ended up getting one the same day. It was fun seeing cousins share that moment and I love seeing my kids recognized for their hard work at school. Elementary school is a different ball game then the days I grew up in and it is very demanding. Im so proud of him and all of his hard work!
