Sourdough Starter & Baking
I am so grateful to my friend Britnee Fullmer for giving me some of her sourdough starter! The first thing she told me was to make sure and name it because it is needy like a child: it needs attention and to be fed! Ha! So I named her "Marvelous Moira" after one of my favorite TV characters on the show Schitt's Creek.
I am also so grateful for the tip she gave me about where to find a 50 lb. bag of flour, which was The Bosch Kitchen store. Now, in these trying times, it is comforting to know I have a way to feed our family without a lot of ingredients! It was tricky getting started but Britnee guided me the whole way via audio text. Thank goodness for technology! I was proud of myself for not giving up and pretty impressed with my first artisan loaf.
It really helps keep my mind busy and relieve stress throughout the day. It made me happy I was able to give a loaf to our neighbors behind us. Who doesn't love a loaf of homemade, warm, crusty bread?! I think my favorite part is scoring it. There is something so satisfying about slicing through the dough and creating some beautiful art on a loaf of bread!
