Brielle's Dream Dog

The time had come for Brielle to bring home her wolf dog she had always dreamed of. She saved up $600 of her own money to pay for half of her dog. Chase found the breed "Native American Indian Dog' that was "wolf looking", a docile family dog and hypoallergenic. They are not a common breed so he came all the way from Alabama! The breeder was amazing and kept us up to date on everything until we could bring him home. Brielle picked the lightest coated dog in the litter and she named him after we brought him home. She picked the name Sakari, which means "sweet" in Native American.

We met the breeder in Colorado to pick him up. It was a strange time to drive across state lines since Covid 19 was so new and people were very scared. The breeder was almost hesitant to even leave her state to meet us because she thought she would get in big trouble since they were ordering all these people to stay home. Luckily she decided to still meet us. As I type this it has now been 9 months since Covid 19 began, and it is sad to think it still isn't over. The world has changed drastically since those early days back in March. Anyway, it was a quick trip. An 8 hour drive to Colorado, we got in late, went to sleep at our hotel, got our puppy early the next morning and drove the 8 hour drive home. It was a miserable drive with that small puppy and we were all tortured every time he would begin to howl because he wanted out of the car.

It was a hard first week with him home. He howled the entire first night in his crate. He never stopped one time. Chase left at 3:00 am to go on a drive so he didn't have to hear it. I broke down in tears the next morning wondering what I had done? Why did we do this again? We sent him to a board and train puppy camp for 4 weeks which saved us for another month, he was crate trained, well socialized with other dogs and taught basic commands. Brielle was very proud to be the owner of her forever dream dog but also quickly realized how much work it would be. You can see how much she loves her pup just from these pics. You can also see how exhausted she is (and our whole family was) in the picture of her sleeping in our bed (where she came to escape the sounds of her puppy crying)
